South Carolina, USA
Pleistocene – ~15,000 years old
A dramatic Ice Age relic, this black fossilised Mammoth tusk fragment once formed part of the sweeping ivory of a colossal, shaggy-coated herbivore that roamed North America at the end of the last glacial period.
Its deep charcoal tone is the result of long-term burial in mineral-rich sediments, where groundwater gradually replaced the original ivory with stone. The dense dentine structure and natural growth banding remain visible, now preserved in a darker, more sculptural form.
Bold and architectural in presence, this 2 kg specimen carries the weight and atmosphere of the late Pleistocene.
Dimensions: 210 × 120 × 100 mm
Weight: 2 kg
