Andamooka, South Australia
A striking natural pair, split to reveal a luminous seam of precious opal running through ironstone matrix. These pieces originate from the renowned Andamooka opal fields, where silica-rich solutions once moved through sedimentary rock, slowly depositing microscopic silica spheres within cavities and fractures. Over time, the precise stacking of these spheres created the internal structure responsible for opal’s signature play-of-colour.
Each half exposes a flowing vertical band of iridescence, shifting blues, greens and soft violets, contrasted against the earthy host rock. Displayed together or separately, the pair offers both geological integrity and sculptural presence.
Dimensions: 180 × 140 × 110 mm & 140 × 120 × 110 mm
Weights: 2.9 kg & 2.3 kg
