About BC House
BC House is a curated house of art, design and natural history, located in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
Bringing together objects from the natural world with contemporary art and design, BC House explores the relationships between material, form, time and human imagination.
Our collection spans fossils, minerals, meteorites, gemstones, artworks and collectible objects. Each is selected for its distinctive character, provenance and ability to inspire curiosity.
Beyond the collection, BC House is a place for creative exchange. Through exhibitions, collaborations and events, we bring together artists, designers, architects and collectors to explore new ideas and ways of working with material.
Origin
How we began
BC House began with a fascination for objects that seem to slow a room down. Fossils, minerals, ancient materials and artworks each hold a different kind of weight, but all ask the same thing of the viewer: attention. A private obsession became a gallery for people who recognise that the rarest objects are often the least insistent.
The Philosophy
BC House exists where natural history and contemporary design meet. We're drawn to objects that reveal how they came to be — through compression, crystallisation, erosion, fracture or growth. Our role isn't to decorate them with explanation, but to place them well and let their logic do the talking.
Who we work with
DESIGNERS
For interiors that benefit from objects with weight, history and restraint.
ARCHITECTS
For projects where material language matters as much as form.
COLLECTORS
For those drawn to rarity, permanence and the long view.
Founded by Matt Allan, Nina Cueva and Cesar Cueva, BC House draws on decades of combined experience across natural history, gemstones, contemporary jewellery, art and design.
Their expertise spans the sourcing and curation of geological materials, fine gemstones, jewellery and object design, creative direction and the development of exhibitions and cultural experiences.
Through their respective practices, Gem Stone Trading Company, Courtesy of the Artist and Sevenmarks Gallery, the founders bring established industry knowledge, creative relationships and a shared appreciation for material, craftsmanship and design.
