Illuminated Earth is a collection of stone lights created from Onyx Calcite and Fluorite. Some pieces are hollowed from solid stone; others are panels cut thin enough for light to pass through. When illuminated, the material changes completely - bands, veins, fractures and crystalline structures become visible from within.
They are functional lights, but also sculptural objects, designed to bring warmth, atmosphere and a quiet sense of depth into a room.

The method
Cut once
Each piece begins with a block of stone selected for its colour, translucence and natural patterning. It is cut, shaped, hollowed or thinned, then polished by hand to reveal the structure held inside the material. The process is slow and unforgiving. Every cut determines what can be seen, and no two sections of stone will ever produce the same result. Each light is a one-off reading of the earth it came from.
